PM Reveals Strategy Of "1 Million Bullets to Change a Fighter Jet"

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has unveiled a strategy used to retaliate against fighter jets in the Cambodian-Thai war in 2008-2011, which did not require the launch of an air force, but had troops ready to shoot from the ground.

Speaking at the Inauguration Ceremony of Cambodia-Korea Friendship ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) building of Ang Duong Hospital on Monday morning, Prime Minister Hun Sen recalled the events of the Cambodia-Thailand conflict in 2008-2011. He said he had ordered the Cambodian army to remain silent and wait until enemy aircrafts had lowered to a certain point, upon which all troops were ordered to fire their bullets at that plane, which he called a "sky net strategy".

He said, "Because we have to know about this plane! If it stays high up, it cannot do anything. When it goes down near us, it is our turn, from the bottom up, [to fire a] million bullets out, sometimes it will only be one bullet [that will hit its target], but I am willing to fire one million bullets (big or small). Aircrafts can only drop bombs if they fly lower down, so when they come lower, we have to put the sky net up. This is Hun Sen's war strategy."

During the Cambodia-Thailand conflict in 2008-2011, in order to seize Preah Vihear temple, Thailand ordered its F-16 fighter jets to fly across the border and into Cambodian territory. Prime Minister Hun Sen has stated that while Cambodia may not have as advanced of an air force as Thailand, the US-made aircraft used by Thailand have lost before in the war in Cambodia.
